No, small investors aren't "losing their appetite for risk," they finally get that they've been fleeced

and we're not going to hand over our money to the wall street casino quite so freely any more... fool me once, twice, three times, hey...! maybe i'll start getting a clue, particularly when those i put in office to supposedly look after MY interests hand trillions of my dollars over to the wall street crooks who just finished squandering everything i'd put in to THEIR hands in the foolish belief THEY had my interests at heart... HA...!
Investors withdrew a staggering $33.12 billion from domestic stock market mutual funds in the first seven months of this year, according to the Investment Company Institute, the mutual fund industry trade group. Now many are choosing investments they deem safer, like bonds.

If that pace continues, more money will be pulled out of these mutual funds in 2010 than in any year since the 1980s, with the exception of 2008, when the global financial crisis peaked.

Small investors are “losing their appetite for risk,” a Credit Suisse analyst, Doug Cliggott, said in a report to investors on Friday.

screw 'em... they can all go rot in hell...

p.s. atrios has a slightly different take...

It isn't about uncertainty or appetite for risk, it's about not having any fucking income.

yeah, that too, but my hunch is that, even if they did, they'd be goddam leery of putting it back in the hands of crooks...

If you ever wanted to see a headline that tells you who's really running the country, here it is

kinda says it all, doesn't it?...
Wall Street shifting political contributions to Republicans

Commercial banks and high-flying investment firms have shifted their political contributions toward Republicans in recent months amid harsh rhetoric from Democrats about fat bank profits, generous bonuses and stingy lending policies on Wall Street.

The wealthy securities and investment industry, for example, went from giving 2 to 1 to Democrats at the start of 2009 to providing almost half of its donations to Republicans by the end of the year, according to new data compiled for The Washington Post by the Center for Responsive Politics.

Commercial banks and their employees also returned to their traditional tilt in favor of the GOP after a brief dalliance with Democrats, giving nearly twice as much to Republicans during the last three months of 2009, the data show. At the same time, total political donations by the major banks and investment houses alike dropped in the waning months of that year.

and there ya have it... the super-rich elites will pay whatever it takes to ensure they stay in power...

Trillions for the banksters but not a penny for our health

i don't get it... i plain don't get it... throwing trillions of dollars at the banksters, the insurance companies, the automakers, and the giant investment firms was somehow just fine... congress jumped right in, delivered a snappy salute, took the super-rich by the hand and led them right into the money bin... hell, they even provided the dump trucks to haul it away... so, pray tell, what's this big hoo-ha about the cost of health care, fercryinoutloud, a considerably more important deal, imho, than lining the pockets of the already super-rich elites...?
For Public, Obama Didn’t Fill in Health Blanks

Wanting to believe the president’s assurances, many couldn’t see how his health care plan would be paid for.

in time-honored fashion, the nyt spins the story to make it look like it's the american people who are the ones stopping the passage of health care reform rather than the miserable worms in congress who have the nerve to pass themselves off as our concerned, elected representatives... did congress drag its feet on the bailout...? shit, no...! but when it comes to the REAL well-being of their constituents, that's another matter entirely... oh, wait... silly me... the banksters ARE their constituents... never mind...
