A massive march against "stop and frisk" in NYC

people are rightfully pissed off and want to show it... good on them...

On Sunday, a sea of protesters filled the streets of New York City to show their solidarity against the Big Apple's Stop and Frisk policy. Approximately 50,000 protesters gathered in a silent march to draw attention to the policy that they feel is targeting minorities. According to statistics, 685,724 were searched in 2011 and of those people, 53 percent were black and 34 percent were Latino. Critics argue that this procedure legalizes racial profiling and must be abolished.

it's a shame that the highest ranking hispanic ever to serve in the federal government chose to serve the dark forces of the bush administration... i'm sure karl rove, in his evil machinations, thought gonzo was a prize trophy to parade around as a minority stuffed suit, clear evidence of the importance minorities held for george bush... there are outstanding hispanic and latino people out there, dying for a chance to serve their country and their people... let's open the door and let THEM have a crack at things, and never let another sock puppet like gonzo sully a proud and noble heritage...

A Wellesley College trustee’s remark that blacks preferred pushing drugs to working in a factory has precipitated an emotional debate on this bucolic campus already grappling with charges of racial insensitivity

The trustee, Henrietta Holsman, a 1970 graduate of Wellesley who runs a manufacturing concern in Los Angeles, resigned from the board last weekend after apologizing for her comments, which also cast aspersions on the work ethic of Hispanic and white employees. But in a letter to the college newspaper, Ms. Holsman reiterated her statement that she had trouble keeping black assembly-line workers from going “back to the street to earn more money” selling drugs

In her lecture, Ms. Holsman also said she had found Hispanic workers to be lazy, white workers resentful of having to work with machines, and Asians, while very productive, likely to move on to professional or management jobs.

Latinos dump Gonzo

when your own people tell you to take a hike, you can pretty well smell the toast burning...

Two big ImpreMedia-owned newspapers, the daily La Opinión in Los Angeles and the Chicago weekly La Raza, argue in a common editorial that U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales should resign.

"The firing of the U.S. attorneys is sufficient cause for doubting his capacity for distinguishing his loyalty to President George W. Bush from his duty to citizens," the editorial, which La Raza published in both Spanish and English, says. "But the straw that broke the camels back is the contradiction between his testimony that he was unaware of what his subordinates had done and his active participation in the meetings, as evidenced by the department's internal communications."

“Gonzales not only has let down the community — he’s let down the nation,” Muñoz…wrote.
