US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice lost yet another senior aide on Wednesday when Dina Habib Powell, the highest-ranking Arab-American in the US government, announced her resignation to join a Wall Street investment bank.

The departure of Powell, key architect of a Rice initiative to improve the United States' image abroad, was the third senior diplomat to quit in the past five days and the sixth so far this year -- an exodus that is expected to continue in the final 20 months of the Bush administration.

What do Zoellick, Tobias, Zelikow, Krasner, Bolton, Joseph, and Lowenkron all have in common?

they all worked for condi and they've all left the state department since january... but, not to worry...

A senior State Department official indicated that the spate of resignations could continue as Bush nears the end of his mandate in January 2009.

translation: yes, we know it's a shitload of senior people, and, yes, we know some of the circumstances surrounding their departures are questionable, but, hey, it's all to be expected, dontcha know, and, oh, btw, don't be surprised if there are more, maybe even a LOT more...

Truer words (about sexual indiscretion) were never spoken

both parties and the human race as a whole are full of sexual beings who, from time to time, engage in sexual indiscretion... but it isn't the indiscretion that troubles me nearly as much as the hypocrisy and lies that go along with it... i would hope that ms. palfrey's long, long list uncovers THOSE no matter their political stripe...

Some people are downright giddy that the Bush Administration is about to be ensnared in another scandal. But I would remind them that nothing is more bipartisan than sexual indiscretion.

put it ALL on the table... we're way, way overdue for the truth - ALL of it...

Bush and Condi loved Tobias - and now he's gone

but, as abstinence promoters, i doubt any of them used condoms...

"I'm sad today," said one person close to Tobias, according to Saturday's Washington Post. "The president loves him and Condi absolutely loves him."

it's really hard to fill a gap in a threesome...

Deputy Secretary of State Randall Tobias [...] said "that he must step down" from his post "effective immediately," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said in a statement Friday that did not disclose his escort service link.

"He is returning to private life for personal reasons," the statement added.

Within minutes, Tobias's biography was deleted from the USAID Web site, the Washington Post reported on Saturday's front pages.
