yes, it's a strong statement from someone who has been consistently strong in his views, and i applaud him for it... i agree that it is most definitely way, WAY past time to stop standing idly by, but i would add one very important element to mr. rich's focus on the iraq war and torture...
the united states is in a deadly critical, exceptionally serious constitutional crisis that threatens the very existence of our democratic republic and everything it stands for... no matter how unrealistic or far-fetched it may seem, we simply MUST turn these criminals out of office BEFORE the next election (and most certainly BEFORE the new president is inaugurated), and seize that opportunity to roll back the unconstitutional mechanisms of unfettered power they have put in place...

Our humanity has been compromised by those who use Gestapo tactics in our war. The longer we stand idly by while they do so, the more we resemble those “good Germans” who professed ignorance of their own Gestapo. It’s up to us to wake up our somnambulant Congress to challenge administration policy every day. Let the war’s last supporters filibuster all night if they want to. There is nothing left to lose except whatever remains of our country’s good name.
