Scrubbing-a-flub and a call for "enhanced interrogation techniques" for Gonzo and Karl

more on the "eternal general" of the united states...
BUSH: ā€˜Iā€™m honored to be here with the eternal general of the United States, mi amigo Alberto Gonzales.ā€™

natually, the flub has either already been scrubbed from the white house web site or never made it there in the first place...
I'm honored to be here with the Attorney General of the United States, mi amigo, Alberto Gonzales.

the nyt, however, isn't amused...
At best, the firing of eight United States attorneys, most of them highly respected, is an example of such profound incompetence that it should cost Mr. Gonzales his job. At worst, it was a political purge followed by a cover-up. In either case, the scandal is only getting bigger and more disturbing.

New reports of possible malfeasance keep coming fast and furious. They all seem to make it more likely than ever that the firings were part of an attempt to turn the Justice Department into a partisan political operation.

[...]

It is long past time for President Bush to fire Mr. Gonzales. But Congress, especially the Republicans who have dared confront the White House on this issue, should not be satisfied with that. There are strong indications that the purge was ordered out of the White House, involving at the very least the former counsel, Harriet Miers, and Karl Rove.

It is the duty of Congress to compel them and other officials to finally tell the truth to the American people.

i say keep him on... better yet, get gonzo and karl, shackle them hand and foot, blindfold them, strip them naked, make them stand in "stress positions," play country music at top volume 24 hours a day, keep the lights on and the temperature down, and have scantily dressed female interrogators parade around them suggestively, until they break down and tell us the whole truth, not self-serving little pieces or the outright lies they've been peddling... flipping off congress and the american people can only serve to inflame the steadily rising anger toward this incredibly arrogant and criminal presidential administration, possibly allowing the full truth - of which i am convinced we only know a very small part - to be laid bare in the light of day...
