Can you imagine the reaction here if a Bible was flushed down the toilet...?

saudi arabia is understandably pissed and with protests expanding from afghanistan to pakistan and civil war apparently underway in iraq, it looks like all our efforts to drain the swamp have left us up to our collective assholes in alligators...

"The government of Saudi Arabia is closely following, with indignation, media reports of desecration of the holy Koran at Guantanamo," a statement carried by the official news agency said. [...] Saudi Arabia "appeals to the concerned American authorities to carry out a quick investigation in the matter". [...] At least seven people have died in Afghanistan in anti-American protests sparked by the reports.

it's spreading fast too...

Angry protests raged across the Muslim world from Indonesia to Gaza on Friday over a report that U.S. interrogators at Guantanamo Bay had desecrated the Koran, with calls for retaliation and a rising death toll. [...] The unrest spread to Pakistan, which called for a U.S. probe.

[...]

Newsweek, in its May 9 edition, quoted sources as saying that investigators probing abuses at the military prison had found that interrogators "had placed Korans on toilets, and in at least one case flushed a holy book down the toilet."
