Vicente blinks

Mexican President Vicente Fox has dismissed the country's attorney general in an apparent effort to end a legal row over the capital's mayor.

Rafael Macedo had headed attempts to bring Mayor Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador to trial, a move which could bar him from a presidential bid next year.

[...]

"My administration will not stop anyone from running in the next federal election," said Mr Fox, after he had dismissed the Mr Macedo.

ah, yes... the old lyric comes to mind... "you don't have to be a weatherman to know which way the wind's blowing..." vicente's never been a bad sort... let's face it... when luis donaldo colosio was making populist noises back in the mid-90's, even though he was a member of the ruling pri, he oh-so-mysteriously got popped... at least things are a little more temperate these days...
