DeLay, DeLay, DeLay ~long sigh~

and none of it very good...

in his keynote speech at the nra annual convention in houston last night, he said:
"When a man is in trouble or in a good fight, he wants all of his friends around him, particularly armed. So I'm in good company tonight."
~raises eyebrows~
"Family is the foundation of this country and we will fight back all the attacks on the family," he said. Supporting marriage as between man and a woman is one of them. Fighting pornography is another. Fighting back judicial activism is the next. "We have unaccountable, out of control judiciary. We are after them," DeLay said.
"after 'them'...?"
The close relationships between the think tank [The Heritage Foundation] and lobbying interests were apparent on the 2001 trip to Malaysia. Heritage paid expenses for DeLay, Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Ander Crenshaw, both Republicans from Florida, and their spouses.
i've been quite a few places in malaysia... the north-south highway along the western coast is (or was in 1997) as good or better than any interstate i've been on in this country...

Patricia Baig
Patricia Baig, a substitute teacher with a comfortable inheritance, paid $2,776 this week [a full-page advertisement on Wednesday in the 62,000 copies of the weekly free Fort Bend Southwest Sun] to call for Representative Tom DeLay's resignation. ... "Tom DeLay is taking care of Tom DeLay. He has become an embarrassment to his district. It's time for him to go." ... "He's an embarrassment," said David Edwards, 65, of Sugar Land, a mortgage broker who said he was an evangelical Christian and a member of the N.R.A.
s-o-o-o-o, not EVERYBODY in the nra is smiling...
The values alleged so far in this scandal - greed, hypocrisy, favor-selling, dissembling - belong to no creed except the ruthless pursuit of power.
it looks like frank rich is definitely back full-time on the nyt op-ed page... yay...!
The President's team is increasingly frustrated by the majority leader's inability to mount a defense more persuasive than blaming his problems on a liberal conspiracy. DeLay, says a senior Administration official, "is handling this like an idiot."
ouch...!
[T]his is the man who once was reported to have declared upon being stopped from lighting a cigar in a government-owned building, "I am the federal government." The remark now seems prophetic. Government is hobbled by Mr. DeLay and it is up to his fellow Republicans to finally realize that.
time, the washington post, and the nyt...?

question... how much longer can he hold on...?
