Personally, I'm delighted that Rio got the IOC nod, but...

south america is largely the ignored continent... the only time the olympics was held in any part of latin america, or in a developing country OR in a spanish-speaking country was when the summer olympics took place in mexico city in 1968... so now brazil gets to be the host of the 2016 summer olympics, the first olympics to be held in a portugese-speaking country but will be the #2 in the other categories...

however, what i find incredibly bizarre is the notion of americans actually CHEERING chicago's loss... what the HELL is going on in my country...?
