To feel uplifted, look up

i often look up, whether it's to a sunrise, a sunset, the first star of the evening or morning, the waxing or waning moon, or simply cloud formations floating by... i never fail to be gladdened and my spirit never fails to be put at ease when i direct my gaze toward the sky... i highly recommend it...
Here's NASA's press release on the comet dust brought back to Earth by the space probe Stardust: °These chunks of ice and dust wandering our solar system appear to be filled with organic molecules that are the building blocks of life."

The finding surprised scientists because many predicted that the space probe would find mostly ice. Instead, the finding could lend support for the belief that comets could have "seeded" life on our planet as well as others.

Such a statement would have been unimaginable only a few decades ago. Traditionally humans have an egocentric tendency to explain our place in the universe.

there is so much more out there than we know... it's always humbling to me to think just how enormous is the universe we occupy and how much there is still yet to learn... somehow, at this time of year, those thoughts acquire particular poignancy...
