Bolivia "Deserves Better Days" - [UPDATE]

the word on the street was that if mesa stepped down, the protestors wouldn't accept the next two in line to take his job... it looks like both declined, leaving #4, the head of the supreme court, the one the protestors were hoping would be the one, to accept the job... a really tough day in bolivia but maybe things are turning the corner...
Supreme Court head Eduardo Rodriguez was sworn in as president, after Senate speaker Hormando Vaca Diez, who would normally take over, refused the job. [...] The next in line, the head of the lower house, had already said he would decline to succeed Mr Mesa - meaning that the presidency would pass to the head of the Supreme Court. Mr Rodriguez will now be obliged to call presidential elections - which would defuse the protests.

[UPDATE]

following his inauguration, mr. rodriguez had this to say...
"Bolivia deserves better days," Mr Rodriguez told deputies.

"I am convinced that one of my tasks will be to begin an electoral process to renew and continue building a democratic system that is more just."
